Now that the DPR has been cleared, the authority
will send the project to the IIT-Delhi to finalise the budget.
The Noida government said that it has authorised
the detailed project report (DPR) for the Safe City project, which will install
2,100 CCTV cameras at 212 places in Noida with the goal of putting the city
under e-surveillance for citizens' protection.
Officials said Chief Executive Officer Lokesh M authorised the DPR on Wednesday, paving the door for continued progress on this project, which is critical for improving law and order in the city.
Now that the DPR has been accepted, the authority
will forward the project to the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi
(IIT-Delhi) for budget finalisation.
Once IIT-Delhi has completed a technical review of the estimates, the Noida authority will begin the process of picking an agency to carry out this project. According to officials, the authority will likely release a tender for the selection of an agency within the next one to two months.
"Following the presentation regarding the Safe City project on Wednesday, the DPR was authorised, setting the door for further progress on the project," said RP Singh, general manager, Noida authority..
Officials stated that cameras will be put at all
key locations, with the stream routed to a control room in Sector 94.
"The tentative budget for this project is ₹200 crore but that amount will be approved only after IIT-Delhi's vetting of the estimates," Singh explained.
The authority hopes to complete this project by the
end of 2025, and the agency chosen will be in charge of laying optical fibre
cable, erecting poles, and installing face detection cameras and other high
definition cameras in strategic locations to monitor city activities, according
to officials.
To improve traffic management, the authority has
already established an intelligent traffic management system (ITMS) at all
major traffic crossings, including those on the Noida-Greater Noida Motorway
that are monitored by e-surveillance. The ITMS also assists authorities in
issuing online fines for traffic infractions.
The Uttar Pradesh government wants the Noida authorities to implement e-surveillance throughout the city in order to reduce crime and enhance reaction times.
The Safe City project will include a control room in Sector 94, and the technology will assist police in solving criminal cases more rapidly by using live footage. "This project will also help with crime prevention," Singh said.
