Vikas Kumar, managing director of DMRC, officially opened the new OCC,
which is a cutting-edge control and command center.
The new Operation
Control Centre (OCC), which was unveiled by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation
(DMRC) on Wednesday at the DMRC headquarters, Metro Bhawan, will be used to
monitor and control operations on three upcoming Phase-4 corridors, including
the Golden Line (Aerocity-Tughlakabad), the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli to
Millennium City Centre Gurugram), and the Red Line (Rithala to Shaheed Sthal
New Bus Adda), according to officials with knowledge of the matter.
According to DMRC,
the installation of this new OCC will enable integrated control of the whole
DMRC network from a single structure.
An OCC offers a
complete picture of the whole Metro system, including the trains and rolling
stock as well as access to Metro stations through CCTV feeds, signal and track
control, and train control. In the event that an intervention is required, the
DMRC can provide information to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) or
its own employees at the station by allowing Metro officials to monitor the
concourse and platforms of stations.
Trains without
drivers will be able to be operated by the OCC. DMRC intends to purchase new
trains for the Pink and Magenta lines, as well as the Phase-4 corridors, that
are fully controllable from the command center.
"This is a
significant step toward building the infrastructure required for the Delhi
Metro's Phase-4 routes to open for service. The primary aim of establishing an
integrated OCC at Metro Bhawan is to guarantee centralized monitoring and
control in the event that the Metro system experiences outages or malfunctions.
now, there are 29 interchange Metro stations. According to Anuj Dayal,
principal executive director of corporate relations at DMRC, "a failure in
one line could potentially impact other lines." The new OCC will oversee
the Yellow, Blue, and Golden lines, which are now under construction.
The same control room
has prepared the infrastructure for two further Phase 4 lines, which are not
yet approved by the Center: Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block and
Rithala-Bawana-Narela-Kundli.
