On April 27, 2017, UDAN, also called the Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS), launched its inaugural flight from Shimla to Delhi, marking the start of the program's ten-year operationalization.  The country has allocated ₹4,500 crore to revitalize underutilized and abandoned airports.
